At CosyDen Dachshunds, we believe adopting a puppy is the beginning of a lifelong friendship — not the end of a transaction. This guide is designed to help new owners care for, bond with, and understand their Dachshund the right way.
All of our puppies are home-raised, socialized, and potty trained before they leave our care — so they’re ready to adjust easily into their new homes.
Before bringing your puppy home, make sure you have these essentials ready:
A cozy bed or crate — a calm space where your puppy can rest.
Food & water bowls (stainless steel or ceramic).
High-quality puppy food — we’ll provide your puppy’s current feeding routine.
Chew toys for teething and entertainment.
Collar, leash, and ID tag for safety during walks.
💡 Tip: Keep your home peaceful for the first few days — Dachshunds adjust faster when they feel secure, loved, and familiar with their new surroundings.
Dachshunds are small but energetic dogs. They need balanced meals rich in protein and nutrients for growth and healthy bones.
Feed 3 small meals a day for puppies under 6 months.
After 6 months, transition to 2 meals a day.
Avoid human food, especially greasy or sugary snacks.
We’ll send you your puppy’s current diet plan so you can transition gradually to your chosen food without tummy issues.
All CosyDen Dachshund puppies are already potty trained before leaving for their forever homes!
We begin potty training early using puppy pads and outdoor routines so your little one learns quickly and confidently. Once home, keep their routine consistent — take them to the same spot regularly, praise them often, and you’ll notice they continue their good habits naturally.
Our puppies are raised around family life — children, other pets, and daily household sounds — making them confident and friendly companions.
Once home, continue introducing them to new people and environments to build their confidence.
Simple obedience training (sit, stay, come) can start as early as 10–12 weeks with positive rewards and short, fun sessions.
Each CosyDen puppy leaves our home:
Vet-checked and cleared for travel
Vaccinated & dewormed
With a complete health record for your veterinarian
Please schedule a checkup within 72 hours of pickup or delivery and continue their vaccination schedule as advised by your vet.
Dachshunds are low-shedding but benefit from regular brushing — especially the long-haired variety.
Brush 2–3 times per week
Bathe every 4–6 weeks
Trim nails and clean ears as needed
When you adopt from CosyDen Dachshunds, you become part of our extended family. Whether you need help with diet, behavior, or general care — we’re always here to guide you.
Our goal is to make your experience joyful from the first day your puppy comes home and for many happy years to come.
